The goal of this project was to create a mobile application for a physical device (vehicle tracking device) to prevent vehicle theft. Heavy emphasis was put on the intuitive and easy access to the key features like track and alert to ensure safety in various circumstances.
Project Vision
The project was consisted of a physical hardward design and mobile application component. The concept was derived from the IoT(Internet of Things) devices found in various environments. By applying the intuitiveness of IoT devices, AUTORE:FINDER aims to give the users direct access and control over their vehicle and its safety.
Problem Identification
We have witnessed the rise of vehicle theft in recent years. It has become increasingly common, especially in the US, with over in 2023 alone, a million motor vehicles were stolen according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau. Moreover, according to the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Statistics, motor vehicle theft is the third most common property crime in the United States.

We carefully selected secondary and tertiary colors based on its visual alertness as well as different shades of black that would be used throughout the app screen.
Design Processes
The main page will consist of one animation and three buttons. The animation will show a tracker with a emitted signals which indicates that the tracker is activated and working well. This is to give more spontaneous feeling of the interface.
Trackers are named so that it gives more personality to the product as well as to make user feel more intimate with the system. This will allow make user feel more secure with the tracking device.
GPS tracking is combined with machine learning to deliver a high-quality tracking experience. The app will tell you the closest building, distance, or directions to ensure the easy finding of your vehicle -- all based on an machine learning algorithm that is trained through your usage.
Rather than simple word instruction, we made a short phrase notification to make the service feel more friendly and easy to use.
The tracker underneath the seat also has an embeded sensor that senses the passenger on the seat. This will ensure that only the identified passenger is on board and will send emergency alert otherwise. Identification is done through the proximity of the smartphone(device running the app) to the tracker.
